 About Dr. Laurel Snider

Dr. Snider.
I am an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology program at the University of Alabama. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wyoming and my Ph.D. in Child, Family, and School Psychology from the University of Denver.

I am passionate about research that explores how school psychologists can improve the services they provide to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Even though students with IDD are incredibly vulnerable to poor post-school outcomes, school psychologists are underinvolved in improving the quality of life, relationships, and emotional well-being experienced by this population. My first research strand investigates the services delivered to students with IDD with the goal of improving these services and empowering practitioners to deliver services to students with IDD. My second research strand explores IDD-specific frameworks and practices that educators can use to foster collaborative partnerships with self-advocates, families, and community members.
